When a pipe bursts or some other piece of plumbing malfunctions, our first instinct is to get the problem under control as soon as possible. The longer such an issue goes on, the harder it will be to repair. Not only will the issue be harder to fix, if left unaddressed, the problem could result in hundreds to thousands of dollars in property damage and water usage fees. Because time is of the essence during a plumbing emergency, we feel pressured to make a repair decision as soon as possible, without giving ourselves time to weigh our options completely.
So I started calling plumbers. And there was one name that immediately came to mind: Godot (not his real name). I have lived here in Gilford for eight years and have seen his advertisements at least daily ever since I moved in. His ads are in the local papers, on the local internet sites, he's got an expensive full page ad in several telephone directories, I believe I even received a personal direct mail piece from him when I bought my home.
Some new toilet valves do not take washers and therefore you cannot repair them. If you have a washerless shut-off valve that leaks it will need to be replaced. You will need: a propane torch, solder, flux, sandcloth, a wire fitting brush, a small section of copper pipe (most likely 3/4" I.D.), a slip coupling (again probably 3/4") and a shut-off valve. I would highly recommend installing a ball valve with a drain on it as opposed to a washer style valve. If you purchase a decent quality ball valve it will last a very long time.
Many companies offer emergency services at any time. This means that if your toilet is stopped up or your sink is clogged, you can call a local plumbing company to get fast repairs, even in the middle of the night. The result is that you do not have to deal with these issues for long. Keeping a stopped up toilet or sink around for Trustworthy plumber long can be bothersome and even a health hazard. Allowing leaks to continue for days can cause water damage and a higher water bill. Therefore, these repairs often call for immediacy, and a business that offers quick fixes can be exceptionally helpful.
The number one thing to look for is emergency services. You never know when a pipe will burst or a toilet will overflow. It is not always during business hours, and you certainly cannot wait hours until a Local plumber is ready to come to your home in the morning. You need someone who will be responsive when you need fast help, which is why you should look for a company that provides emergency hours. You may have to pay an extra fee, but it is usually cheaper than having to pay for mold elimination down the road after letting standing water stay in your house for days.
Here's an example. Let's say you are a plumber. Will people put "plumber" into Google to try to find you? How about "plumbers"? How about "plumbing"? All of these are valid search terms, but they each reflect a different "conversation" in the mind of the searcher.
